So, I've got this little backyard unit we built last year—it's basically a small studio space for guests and sometimes my brother crashes there when he's in town. Anyway, last winter was brutal. Even with a decent heater running, the place just wouldn't stay warm. You know that feeling when you're sitting inside but you can still feel the chill creeping in from outside? Yeah, that's exactly what it was like.

I'm pretty sure the insulation we used wasn't enough or maybe wasn't installed properly. We kinda rushed through that part because we were excited to finish up and start using it (lesson learned, lol). Now I'm thinking about going back and beefing up the insulation before winter hits again.

I've heard spray foam is good but pricey, and I'm not sure if it's worth it for such a small space. Also saw some stuff online about rigid foam boards being effective and easier to DIY. Has anyone tried either of these methods? Or maybe there's another option I haven't thought of yet?

Also wondering if windows could be part of the problem... they're double-pane but nothing fancy. Do those insulating window films actually help at all or is that just marketing hype?

Honestly, any advice or personal experience would be super helpful right now. I'd rather not spend another winter freezing my butt off in there, haha.
