I hear you on the digital glitches—spent an hour trying to get my site plan to load, only for the browser to crash every time I got to the final step. Maybe it’s just my luck, but I swear some of those upload limits are stuck in 2009. I ended up splitting my PDF into three smaller files and writing in the notes section that they were all part of the same drawing... Not sure if that made things easier for anyone.

Paper’s a pain, but at least there’s no guessing whether a form actually went through. That said, I do like being able to check status updates online instead of calling and getting bounced around. If only the tech worked as smoothly as they claim—guess we’re stuck picking our poison for now.

- Been there with the upload limits—feels like they haven’t updated those since dial-up days.

“at least there’s no guessing whether a form actually went through”
—that’s the one thing I miss about paper, too.
- I do like tracking everything online, but man, when the system glitches, it’s a nightmare.
- Ever had to re-upload the same doc three times because it kept timing out? Makes me wonder if anyone on the city side actually checks those notes we leave...

Honestly, I’ve had projects where I spent more time fighting the upload portal than actually drawing up the plans. Ever tried explaining to a client that their kitchen reno’s delayed because the city’s website keeps eating your PDFs? Makes you miss the days of walking into the office with a big stack of paper—at least then you knew someone saw it. But then again, tracking everything online is handy... when it works. Still, I wonder if anyone on their end ever reads those “see attached notes” comments or if they just vanish into the void.

Right? I swear, half the time I’m convinced those notes go straight to some digital black hole. Last time I submitted plans for my basement, the portal crashed three times and then flagged my file for “missing documentation”... which was right there in the attachments. Kinda makes you nostalgic for the days when you could just hand over a fat envelope and get a little nod from someone behind the counter.

But honestly, as much as I grumble, I do like being able to check my application status without calling around. It’s just that when things glitch, there’s nobody to talk to—just error messages and a spinning wheel. At least with paper, you could see your stuff sitting in a pile, waiting its turn. Now it’s like... is it even in line? Or did it just disappear?

Guess it’s a trade-off. But man, I’d pay good money for a portal that actually worked every time.

Honestly, I kinda prefer the digital chaos over the old paper shuffle. At least when the portal eats my file, I don't have to drive across town just to drop off another copy. Sure, it's buggy, but at least I can do it in pajamas.
