Just went through the whole process of submitting my house plans to the city for approval, and honestly, it felt like a never-ending maze. I used one of those online submission platforms that promised to "streamline" everything, but um... let's just say it wasn't exactly smooth sailing. Kept getting notifications about minor details missing or needing clarification—stuff that seemed pretty trivial to me, you know?

I mean, I get that they need to be thorough, but it felt like every time I fixed one tiny thing, another popped up. Took way longer than I expected, and the interface wasn't exactly user-friendly either. Felt like I was clicking in circles half the time.

Curious if anyone else has tried these online submission systems for their house plans. Did you find them helpful or just as frustrating as I did?

I've used a couple of these online platforms, and yeah, your experience sounds pretty spot-on. A few quick thoughts from what I've seen:

- The idea behind these systems is great—centralizing everything online should theoretically save time—but in practice, they're often clunky or unintuitive. I spent way too long just figuring out where to upload certain documents because the instructions weren't clear.

- You're right about the minor details thing. From my perspective, though, sometimes what seems trivial actually matters quite a bit when it comes to building codes or zoning requirements. Like, something as small as labeling window dimensions clearly or specifying exact materials can be critical for compliance reasons. But the platforms rarely communicate *why* clearly enough, which just adds to the frustration.

- One platform I used kept throwing errors without explaining why—turned out it was because my PDF files were slightly above their allowed size limit. Took multiple emails back and forth before someone told me that explicitly... would have saved me hours if they'd just put that info upfront.

- Another thing I've noticed: there's usually a disconnect between the city's internal processes and these online submission portals. Often city staff aren't fully trained on them either, so when you call for help, they're just as confused as you are. Not exactly reassuring when you're trying to get approval quickly.

So yeah, your frustration totally makes sense to me. These platforms have potential but still need serious improvements in user-friendliness and clarity before they become genuinely helpful tools rather than just another hurdle in an already complicated process.
