Just finished redoing my basement and man, my wallet is crying a little. Decided to go with these vinyl plank floors everyone keeps raving about because they're supposed to be cheaper and easier to install yourself. Um, "easy" might've been a stretch. Took foreverrrr and I'm pretty sure I spent way more than planned on tools and extra stuff the guy at the store insisted I needed. Anyone else feel like DIY renos end up costing way more than just hiring someone? Or is it just me being terrible at budgeting, lol...

Yeah, DIY costs sneak up fast. I thought painting my kitchen cabinets would save money, but after brushes, primer, paint, sandpaper... it added up quick. Still cheaper overall, but the savings weren't as big as I'd hoped.
