Lighting in a basement is like seasoning in cooking—too little and it’s bland, too much and you’re basically at the dentist’s office.
That’s spot on. I once tried to “brighten up” my basement with a bunch of recessed LEDs—ended up feeling like I was prepping for surgery, not a game night. Swapped half of them for warm bulbs and added some wall sconces with dimmers. Total game changer. Also, faux beams are underrated. I used some lightweight ones last year and even my picky brother thought they were real wood. If you’re going for that fantasy vibe, a few well-placed lantern-style fixtures can really sell it.
