Just saw this article talking about how some budgeting and project estimation apps are way off the mark sometimes. Kinda makes me wonder if relying on them too much could actually mess things up more than help, you know? Anyone else had weird experiences with these apps being totally off-base?
"Kinda makes me wonder if relying on them too much could actually mess things up more than help, you know?"
Yeah, totally feel this. I once trusted one of those apps for a kitchen remodel and ended up with a budget that was laughably optimistic. Like, did they assume I'd be sourcing marble countertops from a magical discount fairy? 😂 Honestly, they're okay as a rough starting point, but nothing beats good old-fashioned research and padding your estimates generously. Learned that the hard way...

Yeah, exactly. Those apps tend to spit out numbers based on ideal scenarios, which almost never happen in real life. I remember one client who showed me an app-generated budget for their bathroom renoβlooked great on paper, but totally skipped over plumbing surprises and tile waste. Ended up costing them nearly double. They're decent for ballpark figures, but you gotta factor in real-world hiccups...and trust me, there are always hiccups.
