Had something similar happen when I was building a shed—permit denied because of some obscure height restriction. Initially annoyed, but it pushed me to reconsider the roof design. Ended up with a lower profile that blended better with the yard and neighbors actually complimented it. Sometimes these setbacks force you into better solutions you'd never have thought of otherwise. Worth stepping back and sketching out a few fresh ideas before getting too frustrated.

Did they give you specifics on why it was denied—like height, setbacks, or materials? Sometimes the details are buried in fine print. I had a client once who got denied because the shed was technically too close to a property line...we ended up shifting the position slightly and it actually improved access to their yard. Maybe there's a small tweak you haven't considered yet that could solve the issue and even improve your design overall. Have you checked if there's an appeals process or variance option available?

Had a similar issue when we first applied—turns out our deck railing was just an inch too short according to local code. Ended up raising it slightly, and honestly, the new height made the view even better...might be worth double-checking those minor details.

Funny how those little setbacks can lead to unexpected improvements. Had a client once whose stairs didn't meet code—after tweaking the design, they ended up loving the new layout way more. Definitely worth revisiting those small details...

Had something similar happen with a deck extension. Inspector flagged it for setback issues, and we ended up shifting the whole thing slightly to the side. Funny enough, that small shift gave us way better afternoon shade—total accident, but now it's everyone's favorite spot. Curious though, did raising yours affect your budget much? Sometimes those little adjustments can sneak up on you cost-wise...
