Yeah, ventilation's definitely a hotspot. Had an inspector once who barely glanced at the kitchen itself but spent ages checking airflow and ductwork. Funny how they prioritize different things. Speaking of grease buildup...

"Had one inspector grill me about airflow because mine was clogged with grease...lesson learned there."

Did you end up switching to a washable filter or just stick with disposable? Been thinking about making the switch myself, but not sure if it's worth the hassle.

I switched to washable filters about two years ago after a similar grease-clogging incident. Honestly, they're not as much hassle as you'd think. Every couple months, I just pop them out, soak them in hot water with dish soap, scrub lightly, rinse, and air dry. Takes maybe 15 minutes total. Plus, it's saved me from running out to buy replacements at inconvenient times...definitely worth considering if you're tired of disposable ones piling up.

That's actually pretty encouraging—I always assumed washable filters would be way more hassle than they're worth. I've been sticking with disposables mostly out of habit (and maybe a bit of laziness), but the cost does add up over time. Plus, there's always that moment when you realize you're out of replacements right before guests or inspections...been there more times than I'd like to admit.

Quick question though: do washable filters hold up well over time? Like, have you noticed any decline in performance after repeated cleanings? I'm all for saving money and reducing waste, but I don't want to compromise too much on efficiency either. Would love to hear your experience on that front.

Also, speaking of last-minute kitchen disasters—anyone got tips for quickly tackling stubborn grease stains on cabinets? Inspector's coming tomorrow afternoon and my usual cleaning spray isn't cutting it this time around...

Washable filters actually hold up surprisingly well—I’ve had mine for about two years now, and honestly haven’t noticed any real drop in performance. As for grease stains, ever tried baking soda paste? Saved me more than once before inspections...

Does baking soda paste really tackle stubborn grease stains that well? I've always relied on vinegar and dish soap, but maybe it's time to switch things up... How long do you usually leave it on before wiping down?
