"Ever had something minor slip through inspection that turned into a bigger headache later on?"
Yep, learned this the hard way myself:
- Inspector missed a loose pipe fitting under the sink (hidden behind some boxes).
- Seemed minor at first, just a drip here and there.
- Turned into water damage and mold issues down the line... expensive lesson.
I feel your pain. We had our inspector overlook some old wiring behind the kitchen cabinets—looked fine at first glance, but turned out the insulation was crumbling. Weeks later, lights started flickering and outlets went dead. Not the sort of surprise you want in an older home... Ended up rewiring half the kitchen. Definitely taught me to double-check those hidden spots myself next time.
Yikes, that sounds familiar. When we bought our old Victorian, everything seemed fine until we noticed the lights dimming whenever someone turned on the microwave. Turns out the previous owner had done a DIY wiring job hidden behind some fancy molding—looked nice, but was a total fire hazard waiting to happen. Ended up spending a weekend pulling it all out and rewiring properly. Definitely learned my lesson about trusting a quick glance... inspectors are helpful, but nothing beats getting your own eyes on those sketchy spots.

Couldn't agree more—inspectors often miss hidden issues like that. Speaking of Victorian wiring nightmares, have you checked behind any built-in cabinetry yet? Found some real surprises lurking there myself...

Oh man, built-ins are the worst for hiding nasty surprises. Pulled out a pantry cabinet once and found a whole section of drywall missing—just bare studs and ancient wiring dangling everywhere. Definitely worth the hassle to peek behind anything fixed in place, even if it means a bit more mess upfront. Better to know now than after you've already painted and tiled everything...
