Cabinets looking dull and worn - any easy fixes?

Okay, so here's the deal. I've got these kitchen cabinets that were installed maybe 6 or 7 years ago. They're decent quality, nothing fancy, but lately they've started looking kinda sad. You know, scratches here and there, a few greasy spots near the handles (yeah, guilty as charged), and just overall kinda dull and tired-looking. I mean, they're not falling apart or anything, but they're definitely not winning any beauty contests anymore.

I've tried basic cleaning stuff - soap and water, even some of those cabinet-specific sprays from the hardware store - but it doesn't seem to do much besides make them smell lemony fresh for a day or two. I thought about maybe refinishing or painting them, but honestly, I'm not exactly a DIY superstar. Last time I tried painting furniture it ended up looking like a kindergarten art project gone wrong... um, yeah, let's not talk about that disaster.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone's got some easy-ish tips or tricks to spruce these cabinets up without breaking the bank or my sanity. Maybe some kind of polish or oil that'll perk them up a bit? Or is there some miracle product out there that actually works without needing a whole weekend of sanding and painting?

Also curious if anyone's tried those cabinet restoration kits I've seen advertised online - do they actually work or is it just clever marketing making me think there's hope for these sad cabinets?
