Let’s say you have $5k saved up, but you start googling and suddenly you’re seeing numbers all over the place. Some people say $3k for new cabinets, others are dropping $20k like it’s nothing. Is there some secret cabinet black market I don’t know about? I mean, are these things made of gold, or what? Here’s where it gets fun (or maybe horrifying): imagine a world where you walk into a cabinet store and they give you a “choose your own adventure” book instead of a quote. Like, “Turn to page 12 if you want soft-close drawers, but beware, your budget may never recover.” Or “Page 37: you picked custom paint color—now you must defeat the wizard of upcharges.” I’m curious—if you had to write the next page in this cabinet cost adventure, what would it be? Tried spray painting my cabinet pulls last summer—figured it was worth a shot before dropping cash on new ones. Used a primer and a couple coats of matte black spray, then let them cure for a few days. They looked awesome at first, but after a few months, the ones on the most-used drawers started to chip and scratch. The less-used ones still look fine, though. I guess if you’re gentle or it’s not a high-traffic area, it could work, but I wouldn’t count on it for a long-term fix. Maybe there’s a better sealer out there?
