Extra conduit is one of those things you only appreciate after the fact—totally agree. Battery lights just end up being landfill fodder, honestly. Hardwired LEDs are way more reliable, but I’ve had mixed luck with puck lights. Some brands flicker or have weird color temps that make food look odd.

About dimmers—most “LED compatible” ones still seem to have issues unless you match them with the exact right bulbs. Lutron’s Caseta line worked for me, but it wasn’t cheap. Anyone tried those smart dimmers that claim zero flicker? Wondering if they’re actually worth the extra cost or just marketing hype...

Totally get where you’re coming from on the dimmer front. Even the “LED rated” ones can be hit or miss—sometimes you still get that annoying buzz or flicker, especially if you mix bulb brands. I’ve tried a couple of those smart dimmers (Leviton and TP-Link) and honestly, they’re better but not perfect. Still get a little flicker at low settings with some bulbs. Lutron Caseta’s been the most reliable for me too, but yeah, it stings the wallet. At least you know it’ll work, though... sometimes peace of mind is worth a few extra bucks.

Yeah, mixing bulbs is where I tripped up too—thought I’d save a few bucks but ended up with the flicker show. It’s frustrating when “LED compatible” doesn’t actually mean anything. Lutron Caseta is pricey, but honestly, after swapping out cheaper ones twice, I kinda wish I’d just bit the bullet from the start. Sometimes spending a bit more upfront saves you headaches (and cash) down the line.

Totally get where you’re coming from—sometimes the “cheap fix” just ends up costing more in the long run. I’ve seen folks try to mix and match, hoping it’ll work out, and then they’re stuck with the disco kitchen vibe. It’s a pain, but hey, live and learn, right? At least you know for next time. Sometimes paying a bit extra really does save your sanity... and your lighting.

Been there, done that—tried to save a few bucks on cabinet hardware once and ended up with handles that looked like they belonged in three different decades. It’s wild how fast “budget-friendly” can turn into “what was I thinking?” Sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and pay for the stuff that actually matches, or you’ll be staring at your mistakes every time you make coffee. Not worth the daily reminder, trust me.
