Ceiling fan maintenance checklist: wobble, clicking, dust, and weak airflow

I’m looking for a practical maintenance routine for a ceiling fan installed about three years ago. It’s mounted to a standard ceiling electrical box with a downrod, not directly against the ceiling.

Lately it has developed a slight side-to-side wobble on medium and high speed, plus an occasional clicking sound once per rotation. The airflow also seems weaker than it used to be, although the fan is still running at all speeds. I’ve already dusted the blades and housing, checked that the blade screws are snug, cleaned the remote receiver area, and tried both the wall switch and remote. I haven’t yet used a blade-balancing kit or opened the canopy.

For those with more experience, what order would you check things in? I’m especially wondering how to distinguish a blade-balance issue from a loose mounting bracket, worn motor, or an electrical/control problem. Are there particular signs that mean I should stop using it and call an electrician rather than continuing with routine cleaning and balancing? Also, how often do you clean and inspect the blades, downrod, canopy, and mounting hardware to prevent dust buildup or small noises from becoming a safety issue?
