Last year, after dealing with flooding for the third time (ugh), I finally bit the bullet and had my house lifted. It was a pretty big investment, and honestly, I was skeptical at first. The whole process was kinda surreal—watching your home get jacked up like it's a car with a flat tire or something. But now that we've had some heavy rains again, I'm actually amazed. My neighbors down the street got flooded again, but my place stayed totally dry.

The product we used was this hydraulic lifting system thingy—I forget the exact brand name right now—but it seemed pretty legit. The contractors were super professional, and they explained everything step by step. Still, it felt weird seeing daylight under my living room floor for a few days, you know?

Anyway, I'm curious if anyone else has gone through this process and what your experience was like. Did it hold up over time? Was it worth the cost in your opinion?

Went through this with a client a couple years back—similar hydraulic system, probably the same tech you're talking about. A few quick points from my experience:

- Definitely effective long-term; their place has stayed dry through multiple storms since.
- Worth the cost if flooding is frequent and severe enough to risk structural damage or mold issues.
- One thing to watch out for: stairs and entryways might need adjustments afterward, which can add unexpected costs.

Overall, seems like you made a solid call.

Did something similar on a smaller scale with a fixer-upper a while back. Worked well, but yeah, the stairs thing caught me off guard too.

"stairs and entryways might need adjustments afterward, which can add unexpected costs."

Ended up building a small landing and new steps—nothing major, but it wasn't exactly in the original budget, lol. Still, beats dealing with water damage every couple months. Overall, pretty happy with how it turned out.
