rainwater flooding my yard—any ideas?

- Clay soil can definitely be a headache—been there myself. Dry wells were also just an okay solution for me, nothing special.
- Agree on raised beds, especially with moisture-loving plants. Another good one is river birch—mine drinks up water like crazy and looks nice too.
- Grading really is underrated. When I moved into my old farmhouse, the yard was basically a pond after every storm. Had a landscaper friend help me add a gentle slope away from the foundation, and it was surprising how much that helped.
- Also, gutters and downspout extensions made a bigger difference than I expected. Redirecting roof runoff further away from trouble areas cut down on pooling dramatically.
- It’s definitely trial-and-error and takes patience, but you’ll find something that clicks eventually. Good luck!
