My deck has seen better days, honestly it's looking pretty rough lately. I'm torn between just replacing the damaged wood boards and giving it a fresh stain, or biting the bullet and switching over to composite decking. Composite seems lower maintenance but pricier upfront, you know? Curious if anyone's done either recently and how it turned out for ya.
Went through the same dilemma last summer. My deck was basically a splinter factory, and I figured I'd just swap out the worst boards and slap on some stain. But then my neighbor went composite, and suddenly my patch job looked like a sad joke next to his shiny new deck.

Yeah, upfront cost stings a bit, but honestly, after seeing him casually hose down his deck while I spent weekends sanding and staining mine...I caved. Went composite this spring and haven't regretted it yet. No more splinters or staining nightmares—just coffee drinking and smug waving at my neighbor (who now thinks he's some kind of trendsetter).
