Been thinking about giving my kitchen cabinets a fresh look, they're looking kinda sad lately. I've watched a bunch of videos and read some blogs, and it seems like people are either team brush or team spray paint. Brush seems easier to control but might leave streaks, spray looks smoother but could get messy fast (and I don't exactly trust myself with precision, lol). Anyone tried either method and have thoughts on which is better?
I tackled this exact dilemma last summer. Went with spray paint because I wanted that smooth finish, but yeah... it got messy real quick. Even with masking everything off, overspray found its way onto stuff I didn't expect.

Honestly, if you're worried about precision, brushing might be less stressful. A good quality brush and some patience can minimize streaks pretty well. Either way, your cabinets will look way better than before!
Interesting to hear your experience with spray paintingβI considered it briefly but was wary about overspray issues too. I went the brush route myself a while back, and honestly, streaks weren't as much of an issue as I thought they'd be. High-quality paint and brushes made a noticeable difference. Still, it did require patience... lots of thin coats and careful sanding between each one.

Yeah, that overspray is sneaky. Did you try using one of those portable spray tents or booths? I've seen them mentioned a few times but never heard firsthand if they're actually effective enough to justify the hassle and cost. Curious if anyone's had luck with these setups or if they're just another gimmick that ends up collecting dust in the garage.
I've actually tried one of those portable spray tents for a furniture project last summer. It did help quite a bit with containing overspray, but honestly, setup and teardown felt like a chore after a while. Plus, ventilation can be tricky if you're indoorsβended up dragging mine outside anyway. Maybe if you have multiple projects lined up it'd be worth it... Has anyone considered using HVLP sprayers instead? Heard they produce less overspray overall, but haven't tested one personally yet.
