"Imagine trying to convince your own door that you're not actually undead..."
Haha, this cracked me up. Been there—not with zombie makeup, but with paint-covered hands from a remodel. Fingerprint lock was NOT having it. Totally agree on keeping a backup handy. Tech is awesome until it's not, and then suddenly you're wishing you'd hidden a key somewhere. Learned that lesson the hard way...
Had a similar issue when sanding drywall—my hands were so dusty the fingerprint reader just gave up on me. Ended up switching to a keypad lock as backup. Less futuristic, sure, but way more reliable when you're covered in renovation grime...
Same here, fingerprint readers and reno work just don't mix. I remember painting one afternoon, got latex paint all over my fingers, and spent 10 mins trying to scrub it off just to get inside. Keypad backup saved me too—low-tech wins sometimes.
Had a similar issue when sanding reclaimed wood—dusty fingers just wouldn't register. Honestly, tech is great and all, but sometimes simpler is better. Ever considered ditching smart locks altogether for something more reliable and eco-friendly, like mechanical push-button locks?
Had a similar experience when I was painting my front porch—hands covered in paint, phone dead, and the smart lock just stared at me blankly. Ended up climbing through a half-open window (neighbors probably thought I was breaking into my own house...). After that, I installed one of those mechanical push-button locks on the side door as backup. Tech is cool, but sometimes old-school reliability wins out. Still keeping the smart lock though—too stubborn to admit defeat yet.
