Your point about battery notifications is spot on—I think that's the real issue here. I got locked out once because I ignored the low-battery alert thinking I'd have plenty of time to swap them out later. Learned my lesson the hard way... Now, I've set a calendar reminder every few months just to check battery levels proactively. Smart locks aren't perfect, but with a bit of planning, they're still worth it for the convenience they offer.

I've had a similar close call, but mine was more about connectivity than battery. Came home after a weekend away, and the lock just wouldn't sync with my phone—stood there fiddling for like 20 mins before it finally clicked. Makes me wonder if keeping an old-school key hidden somewhere is still the safer bet...

Yeah, I feel you on the connectivity thing. Had a similar issue last winter—came home late after a snowstorm, and my smart lock just refused to connect. Thought it was the cold messing with the electronics or something. Ended up standing there freezing my fingers off trying to reset the app and reconnect Bluetooth. Took me almost half an hour before it finally decided to cooperate.

Honestly, as much as I love tech upgrades around the house, there's definitely something reassuring about having a physical backup. I've started keeping a spare key hidden in one of those fake rocks near the porch. Feels kinda silly, but hey... better safe than sorry, right? Plus, it's handy when friends or family need access and don't have the app installed. Tech's great until it isn't, haha.

Had a similar thing happen, but mine was battery-related. Came home from a weekend trip and the lock was completely dead—no warning, no nothing. Ended up climbing through a half-open window like some kind of burglar... neighbors probably thought I'd lost it. After that, I started checking the battery religiously. Curious if anyone else has had battery issues sneak up on them, or is it just me being unlucky?

Had a battery issue sneak up on me once too. After that, I set a reminder on my phone every three months to swap batteries—even if they're still good. Also, some locks have a hidden emergency battery terminal you can use with a 9V battery from outside. Might wanna check your manual to see if yours has that... could save you another window-climbing adventure down the road.
