Yeah, totally get where you’re coming from. I’ve had a tenant call me at midnight because their keypad battery died and they were locked out—never fun for anyone. The lockbox trick has saved me more than once, though. It’s not perfect, but beats hiding a spare under the doormat. Honestly, every method has its hiccups... just gotta pick what feels least risky and roll with it.

Totally agree—lockboxes are a game-changer compared to the old “key under the mat” routine. I’ve also started using those smart locks that send alerts when the battery’s low, but even then, tech can flake out at the worst times. Honestly, nothing’s foolproof. I keep a backup physical key with a trusted neighbor just in case... not ideal, but better than driving across town at 2am.

I’ve had my fair share of lockouts, especially with these old doors that seem to jam at the worst times. I do trust the lockbox, but I also keep a spare key in my garden shed—hidden, but not in an obvious spot. The smart locks are tempting, but I’m a bit wary about relying only on tech. Having a neighbor hold a key is smart, though it can feel awkward asking for it late at night... Still, better than calling a locksmith and risking damage to antique hardware.

Been there—once had to sheepishly knock at 2am in pajamas. At least you didn’t have to crawl through a dog door like I did last year. Antique locks really do have a mind of their own, don’t they?

- Antique locks are a whole vibe, but man, they’re unpredictable.
- I’ve stashed a spare in a combo lockbox outside—less awkward than waking up neighbors, and no more dog door acrobatics.
- If you’re remodeling, maybe consider a keypad deadbolt? Cuts down on the midnight drama.
- Still, there’s something charming about those old locks... until you’re stuck outside in slippers.
