Just finished putting up a bamboo fence around my yard—looks great, cost less than I expected, and feels good knowing it's sustainable. Curious if anyone else has tried bamboo or other green materials and how it turned out?
Bamboo fencing can definitely be a solid choice, especially if you're looking for something eco-friendly without breaking the bank. I've installed a few bamboo fences for clients, and most of them have been pretty happy with the look and feel. One thing I'd mention though—make sure you keep an eye on durability. Bamboo holds up well in moderate climates, but if you're somewhere with harsh winters or intense sun, it can fade or split faster than you'd expect.
Personally, I've been leaning more toward composite materials lately. They're pricier upfront, but they last forever and many brands now use recycled plastics and wood fibers, so they're still pretty green. Had a client recently who insisted on reclaimed wood fencing—looked amazing, but sourcing enough quality material was a bit of a headache. Still, if you're patient and don't mind hunting around, reclaimed wood can be a great sustainable option too.
Anyway, glad your bamboo fence turned out well. Always nice when a project checks off both the budget and sustainability boxes...doesn't happen often enough, haha.
