Honestly, after years of dealing with flaky subs, finding someone who actually communicates clearly and doesn't vanish mid-project felt surreal. I always tell my clients: if you find a reliable sub, hold onto them like gold - seriously, bake them cookies, send holiday cards, whatever it takes. Good ones are rare and worth their weight in marble tile...

Finding a reliable sub can indeed feel like hitting the jackpot. In my experience, early signs usually come down to clear communication and punctuality. If they're prompt in returning calls or texts and show up exactly when they say they will - even for initial meetings - it's a good indicator they'll stick around. But I'm curious, did you find your subcontractor through personal recommendations or trial-and-error? I've had mixed luck with both methods myself...

Personal recommendations have usually been my go-to, but honestly, this last one was pure luck. Saw his truck parked at a neighbor's place, chatted briefly, and took a chance. Sometimes it's just right place, right time...
