are gutter covers really worth it or better to just clean them out regularly?

Thinking about finally dealing with my gutters, tired of climbing up there twice a year. But I'm kinda torn between getting gutter covers or just sticking to regular cleaning. Covers seem convenient, but heard mixed stuff about how effective they actually are, you know? Curious what everyone else prefers and why.

Yeah, I totally get where you're coming from. A few years back, I was in the same boat—got tired of hauling out the ladder every spring and fall. Decided to give gutter covers a shot on one of my rental properties as a test run. Honestly, they've been pretty decent overall. Definitely cut down on the frequency of cleanings, but they're not completely maintenance-free like some ads claim.

Leaves and debris still pile up occasionally, especially after heavy storms or if you've got trees really close by. But instead of twice a year, now it's more like once every couple years for a quick check-up and minor clean-out. For me, that's worth it just for the peace of mind and reduced hassle.

If you're leaning towards convenience and safety (less ladder climbing!), I'd say they're worth considering. Just don't expect perfection—nothing ever is, right?

Gutter covers definitely have their perks, but honestly I've found just scheduling regular clean-outs works better for me. I tried covers at my place, and while they reduced buildup overall, the smaller stuff—like pine needles or maple seeds—still snuck through. Ended up needing to remove sections every once in a while anyway. So yeah, they're convenient, but if your yard has lots of finer debris, you might still be climbing that ladder...just less often.

Yeah, same experience here. I installed covers thinking they'd save me hassle, but those tiny maple helicopters still found their way in. Honestly, regular clean-outs ended up being simpler and cheaper in the long run...
