Yeah, I’m with you on the mesh guards—tried saving a few bucks and ended up regretting it. The micro-mesh ones are better, but like you said, pine needles still find a way in. I’ve got a bunch of maples out back and even with guards, I’m out there twice a year minimum. Leaf blower’s been a game changer for me too, though I still end up hand-scooping the corners. Never thought about the painter’s pole trick until I saw it on YouTube... would’ve saved me some sore shoulders for sure.
