- Totally agree, regular gutter cleaning is one of those boring but crucial things.
- I’ve seen water stains on ceilings that started with a clogged downspout—fixing the inside is way pricier than just keeping up with the gutters.
- If you’ve got big trees, especially maples, you might even want to check them three times a year.
- I always tell clients: clean gutters = less stress and fewer surprise repairs.
- It’s not glamorous, but neither is repainting after water damage...

I used to think once a year was fine, but after moving into a place with a ton of trees—turns out that’s not even close. I checked mine in early fall and there was already a mini forest growing up there. Honestly, I set a calendar reminder for late spring and late autumn now. If it’s been really windy or rainy, I’ll take a quick look just in case. It’s a hassle, but way easier than dealing with water damage... trust me, learned that the hard way.

Yeah, I hear you on the “mini forest” thing—leaves and twigs just seem to multiply overnight. I’ve noticed that even with gutter guards, stuff still finds a way in, especially after storms. Have you ever tried those mesh covers? They help a bit, but I still end up clearing out the corners. I always wonder if there’s a magic solution or if it’s just one of those home maintenance things you can’t really shortcut. Water damage is no joke... had a client with ruined hardwood floors from a clogged downspout. Not fun.
