Have you looked into getting a small dehumidifier instead of those moisture tubs? I've had similar issues with basement spaces and mold, and while the tubs do pull moisture, as you mentioned they can get expensive quickly. A compact electric dehumidifier might cost a bit more upfront but could end up cheaper long-term (plus less hassle). Also, check to make sure your closet doors have some ventilation—sometimes just adding a vent or leaving the door slightly ajar can help reduce humidity buildup significantly.

And on the frizzy hair front... yeah, humidity's rough. I've heard good things about leave-in conditioners or anti-humidity sprays—have you tried any of those? I can't vouch personally, but friends swear by them. Might be worth experimenting a bit. Either way, hang in there—it sounds frustrating dealing with both these issues at once.

Seconding this! I once drilled a few discreet holes in my closet door (landlord wasn't thrilled, lol), but it genuinely helped. And yeah, humidity vs hair is a never-ending saga... solidarity!

I live in an older historic home, and ventilation is definitely key. I didn't drill holes (brave move!), but installing a small vent discreetly at the bottom of the closet door noticeably reduced mold issues. Hair still rebels on humid days though... guess some battles continue indefinitely.

Ventilation definitely helps, but honestly, I've found that humidity control inside the closet itself makes a bigger difference. Have you tried those mini dehumidifier packs or silica gel sachets? They're pretty discreet and don't require any drilling or permanent changes.

Haha, true enough—humidity vs hair is a lifelong feud. But mold? That one might actually be winnable...

Humidity control is definitely key. I've tried those silica gel sachets myself, and they're decent for small spaces or drawers, but honestly I found them less effective in larger closets. Have you noticed a difference in effectiveness depending on closet size or how packed it is?

I had a similar mold issue in a walk-in closet at my last place—pretty frustrating because ventilation alone wasn't cutting it. Ended up getting one of those small rechargeable dehumidifiers (the ones with the beads inside that change color when saturated). It was surprisingly effective and didn't require any permanent installation. Only downside was remembering to recharge it every couple weeks.

Funny enough, the humidity vs hair battle is still ongoing here too. I've accepted frizz as part of life at this point, but mold... that's something I refuse to live with. Have you checked if there might be a hidden moisture source nearby? In my case, turned out there was a tiny leak behind the drywall from the bathroom plumbing next door—barely noticeable but enough to keep humidity levels stubbornly high.

Anyway, curious if anyone else has tried those rechargeable units or found other discreet solutions that worked better than silica packs? Seems like mold is one of those problems where trial and error is inevitable...
