Good points about the plants, though I'd caution against relying on them too heavily for humidity control. They're helpful, but mold usually signals deeper moisture issues. Have you checked your closet ventilation or considered a small dehumidifier? Might be worth exploring...

Exactly this. Plants are nice, but they're more like icing on the cake. First thing I'd do is check if your closet shares a wall with a bathroom or laundry room—seen lots of hidden leaks start there. Have you noticed any damp spots or peeling paint nearby?

Had a similar issue in my 1920s house—turns out the pipes behind the wall were older than sliced bread. Once I tackled the moisture, mold vanished and my hair thanked me too... hang in there, you're on the right track.

Yep, moisture's usually the culprit. Had a rental property with closets that smelled like grandma's basement—turned out the gutters were clogged, causing water to seep in. Cleared those out, aired the place, and problem solved. Good luck, sounds like you're almost there.

Good call on the gutters—often overlooked. A few other quick checks if you're still noticing issues:

- Inspect downspouts and grading around foundation (water pooling?)
- Check closet ventilation—sometimes adding a small vent or louvered door helps
- Dehumidifier can be a lifesaver, especially in humid climates

Sounds like you're on the right track though...
