Totally agree about furniture placement—had the same issue myself. Also found that just leaving the closet door cracked open a bit helped a ton. Small stuff like that can really make a difference without breaking the bank on renos.
Had similar issues myself, and yeah, furniture placement definitely helps. A few other things I found useful:
- Grabbed a cheap humidity meter online (like $10-15). Helped me pinpoint exactly when things got dicey.
- Switched to those moisture-absorbing bags you hang in closets—surprisingly effective for the price.
- Also, check your closet doors. Mine were solid wood and trapping moisture, so I drilled a few discreet holes at the top and bottom edges for airflow. Sounds sketchy, but it actually worked pretty well without looking terrible.
Still haven't solved the frizzy hair though... guess that's a whole other battle, haha.
Totally agree about airflow—drilling holes was a clever fix. I also found that swapping out wooden shelves for wire racks helped a ton. Less surface area, better circulation, and mold stopped coming back... hair still frizzy though, sigh.
"hair still frizzy though, sigh."
Haha, closets are one thing, but hair... that's a whole other beast. Have you tried a small dehumidifier in the closet or nearby? It won't magically fix your hair (trust me, I've tried), but it might help tame the humidity a bit more. Also, random thought—ever considered moisture-absorbing charcoal bags? They're cheap and surprisingly effective. Can't promise they'll solve the frizz though... if you find that miracle, let me know!
Honestly, I've tried charcoal bags before and didn't notice much difference—maybe I got a dud batch or something. What actually helped me was switching to microfiber towels for drying my hair. Sounds random, I know, but regular towels were making my frizz way worse. Closets are tricky though... humidity seems determined to win no matter what we do. Maybe it's just nature's way of keeping us humble, lol.
