- Totally get the frustration—those moisture packs are like a drop in the ocean if your closet’s already muggy.
- I’ve seen those stick-on vent covers too, but honestly, I’m skeptical. They look neat in ads, but I wonder if they actually move enough air to matter.
- The door wedge and fan trick is clever. Sometimes low-tech just works better than all these “miracle” products.
- You’re not alone in this—closet humidity is a beast. At least you’re not drilling holes in your walls yet...

Moldy closets and frizzy hair really are a double whammy. I’ve tried those stick-on vent covers too, and honestly, I didn’t notice much difference—maybe they help a little, but not enough to justify the hype. The fan trick is underrated though; sometimes just propping the door open for a few hours makes a bigger dent than any gadget. It’s a pain, but you’re definitely not alone in this. At least you haven’t resorted to tearing out drywall... yet.

Yeah, I hear you on the vent covers—tried those myself and honestly, didn’t see much of a change either. I’ve found that just keeping a cheap box fan running in the closet for a bit does more than any of those “miracle” products. Have you tried those moisture absorber tubs? They’re not perfect, but they’re way cheaper than a dehumidifier. I’m always torn between spending more or just sticking with the basics... anyone else get tired of buying stuff that barely works?

—but honestly, I think a dehumidifier is worth it if you’re dealing with persistent mold. The tubs and fans help a bit, but they’re more like band-aids. A small, energy-efficient dehumidifier can make a huge difference long-term, especially if your closet doesn’t get much airflow. I tried the budget route for years, but once I finally invested in a decent unit, the musty smell and mold stopped coming back. Just my two cents—sometimes it pays off to go for the bigger fix.

Totally get where you’re coming from. I tried those moisture absorber tubs for ages—felt like I was just collecting weird-smelling water every week and not much else.

“The tubs and fans help a bit, but they’re more like band-aids.”
That’s exactly it. Once I caved and got a dehumidifier, my closet actually started smelling like, well, nothing—which is a win in my book. Plus, my hair stopped doing that frizzy mushroom thing every time I grabbed a sweater. Worth the investment, honestly.
