Just got a quote for installing a new ventilation system in my place and, um, wow...didn't expect it to be that steep. I mean, I knew it wouldn't be cheap, but still. The guy said it's because of materials and labor costs going up, but idk, feels like everything's pricier these days. Anyone else had sticker shock after getting quotes for ventilation stuff recently?
Did you get multiple quotes or just the one? I've found some contractors inflate prices blaming materials, but shopping around usually reveals a pretty big range. Might be worth checking a few more places before settling...
I ran into the same thing last summer when we redid our attic ventilation. First quote was nuts, blamed it on materials too. Ended up getting three more quotes—third one was way more reasonable. Definitely worth the extra legwork...
