Lately I've noticed my apartment just feels kinda...stuffy? Like even when I open windows or run a fan, it still feels stale and heavy inside. At first I thought maybe it's just me being overly sensitive or something, but then a friend came over the other day and casually mentioned it felt "a bit stuffy" in here. Um, thanks, I guess? lol.
Anyway, I've tried airing the place out regularly, vacuuming more often, and even got some houseplants because I read somewhere they help freshen things up. Not sure if they're really doing much though. I'm thinking about getting an air purifier next, but honestly not sure if they're worth the money.
Has anyone else dealt with this kinda thing before? Curious if you found something that actually helped or if I'm just doomed to live in perpetual stuffiness...
I live in an older house and had a similar issue for ages. Tried plants too, but honestly, they mostly just looked nice and didn't do much for the air. What finally helped was checking humidity levels—turns out mine were way too high. Got a decent dehumidifier and it made a huge difference. Might be worth checking your humidity before dropping cash on an air purifier.

Yeah, plants are great decor, but they're not miracle workers...unfortunately.
I agree with the humidity suggestion—it's often overlooked but can make a huge difference. Older buildings especially tend to trap moisture, making the air feel heavy and stale. Plants are nice for aesthetics, but realistically, you'd need a mini jungle to significantly impact air quality.
If humidity isn't your issue, another thing to consider is ventilation. Older homes and apartments sometimes have inadequate airflow, either from blocked vents or sealed-up windows. I've worked on a few projects where simply installing exhaust fans in bathrooms or kitchens dramatically improved air circulation throughout the whole place.
Also, check if your HVAC filters are clean and replaced regularly—dirty filters can seriously restrict airflow and trap dust, contributing to that stuffy feeling. It's a simple fix that people overlook all the time.

Exactly. They might slightly improve mood or aesthetics, but they're not going to solve structural or ventilation issues.
Good points about humidity and ventilation, but honestly, plants might be a bit underrated here. Sure, they're not going to fix serious structural issues, but I added just a few snake plants and pothos around my place last year, and it genuinely felt fresher after a few weeks. Could've been placebo, but they do absorb some toxins. Probably not a total solution, but definitely worth trying alongside other fixes.
Plants can help a bit, sure, but honestly, if your place feels consistently stuffy, I'd seriously look into airflow issues—maybe blocked vents or poor HVAC circulation. Had a similar issue once, and cleaning out the ducts made a noticeable difference.
