Man, I thought spray foam was gonna be the magic fix for my drafty attic, but now I'm kinda regretting it. The smell lingered way longer than they said it would, and I swear I can still catch a whiff weeks later. Plus, it ended up messier than expected... bits of foam everywhere, you know? Is this normal or did I just get unlucky with my contractor? Curious if anyone else had similar headaches.

Had a similar experience myself—thought spray foam was gonna be the holy grail for my basement insulation. Here's what I learned the hard way:

- Smell lasted way longer than promised. Contractor said "a few days," reality was more like a month. Had to keep windows cracked even in chilly weather.
- Bits of foam everywhere? Yep, sounds familiar. Found tiny foam nuggets stuck to my shoes, clothes, even the dog (poor guy looked like he'd been snowed on).
- Turns out prep and cleanup are key. My contractor rushed through it, and I paid the price in messiness.
- Good news though: smell eventually faded completely, and insulation performance is actually pretty solid now.

So yeah, you're not alone—it's not just you or your contractor being unlucky. Spray foam can be great, but it's definitely not as neat and tidy as those home improvement shows make it look...

Went through something similar when we did our attic last year. The contractor swore up and down it'd be quick and painless, but we ended up with foam bits scattered everywhere—still finding them months later behind furniture and in random corners. The smell wasn't as bad for us, thankfully, but the cleanup was a nightmare. On the bright side, our heating bills dropped noticeably, so I guess it balances out eventually...
