Interesting perspective, hadn't really thought about the maintenance angle with HRVs being an issue. I'm curious though, since you've tightened things up so much, have you noticed any issues with indoor air quality or humidity? I've heard mixed things about going super airtight without adding some sort of ventilation...any thoughts on that?

Good point about the HRVs—maintenance can definitely sneak up on you. I've tightened up a couple houses now, and honestly, air quality hasn't been a big issue for me personally. But humidity...yeah, that's another story. Had one project where we skipped proper ventilation initially, and the windows started fogging up pretty bad in winter. Ended up adding a simple exhaust fan setup later, and that cleared things right up. So I'd say ventilation matters more than people realize, even if it's just something basic.

- Good insights on the humidity issue; ventilation definitely seems key to controlling moisture.
- I've been debating between a simple exhaust fan and investing in a full HRV system. The upfront cost difference is pretty steep, and ongoing maintenance concerns me.
- Curious though, with just an exhaust fan setup, have you noticed any significant heat loss during winter months? My gut says pulling warm air out regularly might bump up heating costs...
- I'm trying to balance long-term savings vs initial expenses—would appreciate hearing how noticeable the impact actually was on your monthly utility bills.
