Yeah, cellulose insulation has worked pretty well for me too. When we tackled our old Victorian, we initially had dreams of wool insulation—something about the idea of wrapping up a historic house in wool just felt right. But then the quotes started rolling in, and reality hit hard. Ended up going with cellulose, and honestly, zero regrets. It's eco-friendly enough to ease my conscience, and the performance has been solid through a few cold winters now.

Funny enough, when we opened up some walls during renovation, we found old newspapers stuffed inside from the early 1900s. Guess people back then had the same idea—recycling paper for insulation isn't exactly a new concept! Felt like we were carrying on a tradition, just with better technology and fewer fire hazards.

Ha, same here! When we did our bungalow reno, we uncovered newspapers from the '20s—ads for miracle tonics and everything. We briefly flirted with wool insulation too, but the budget quickly brought us back down to earth. Cellulose ended up being the sweet spot: affordable, effective, and eco-friendly enough. Sometimes practicality wins over romantic notions...though I still secretly love the sweater idea.

We found newspapers too, but ours were from the 50s—lots of ads for kitchen gadgets and vacuum cleaners promising to revolutionize housework. I totally get the appeal of wool insulation, but yeah, budget realities hit hard. We went with cellulose as well, and honestly, no regrets. It's cozy enough without breaking the bank. Still, there's something charming about imagining your house wrapped up in a giant sweater...

Haha, wrapping a house in wool does sound cozy, but imagine the moth situation... I've seen cellulose work wonders on older homes, especially when budgets are tight. Curious if anyone's tackled spray foam insulation themselves—worth the DIY mess or better left to pros?

I've done spray foam DIY-style once, and honestly, it's doable but messy as heck and pretty finicky. You really need to prep carefully—cover everything you don't want permanently foamed, wear protective gear (trust me on this), and practice on some scrap first. The pro rigs have better control and consistency, though. Speaking of insulation options, has anyone here experimented with denim insulation? I've heard mixed reviews about how effective it is long-term...
