Seriously, every time I think about updating the trim in my house, I swear the budget just explodes. Like, you think it's just some wood strips around doors and windows, how expensive can it be, right? But then suddenly you're knee-deep in quotes and materials and labor costs and it's like...um, excuse me? Did I accidentally order gold-plated trim or something? Curious if this is just me or if others have had similar sticker shock moments.

I totally get this. When I first started renovating my place, I figured trim would be the easiest and cheapest part—just some wood strips, right? But nope...turns out it's way more involved than I thought. I remember standing in the aisle at the hardware store, staring at all these different moldings and thinking, "Wait, why is this one tiny strip of wood priced like it's made of unicorn horn?" Definitely had a mini panic moment there. Glad I'm not alone in this confusion.

Haha, been there myself. When I redid the trim in our old house, I thought I'd breeze through it in a weekend. But then reality hit—turns out walls aren't perfectly straight (who knew?), and suddenly I'm spending hours measuring, cutting, and re-cutting just to get corners to line up. And don't even get me started on crown molding...that stuff is like the final boss of DIY projects. Plus, the cost sneaks up on you because it's not just the wood—it's the primer, paint, caulk, nails, and all those little things you didn't think you'd need. Before you know it, your "cheap weekend project" has turned into a pricey month-long saga. At least it looks good when it's finally done, right?
