Have you tried just plain warm water and microfiber? I used to mess around with soaps and vinegar too, but honestly... sometimes simpler is better. Floors look cleaner longer without any residue. Maybe worth a shot?

Warm water and microfiber can be great for regular upkeep, but honestly, hardwood sometimes needs a bit more TLC. I've seen floors lose their shine over time without some sort of protective finish or cleaner. Maybe it's just me, but a gentle wood-specific cleaner every now and then seems to keep the wood nourished and looking richer longer. Nothing crazy, just something mild to refresh it occasionally...

Totally agree with this. When we first moved into our historic place, I thought warm water and microfiber would be enough tooβ€”until my floors started looking duller than my sense of humor after tax season. A mild wood cleaner every month or two made a noticeable difference. Nothing fancy, just something gentle to bring back that subtle glow without turning it into an ice rink... learned that lesson the hard way!

Interesting points here. I've always wondered if those specialized wood cleaners are really necessary or just clever marketing. Usually, I stick to diluted vinegar and water, but lately my floors seem a bit lackluster. Maybe there's something to this after all...

Haha, been there. Slippery floors and socks are a dangerous combo. Might give a mild cleaner a shot next timeβ€”worth experimenting, I guess.

I've had mixed results with vinegar myselfβ€”sometimes it works great, other times it leaves things a bit dull. Recently switched to a mild wood soap, and honestly, floors look healthier without the slip-and-slide effect. Might be worth a try...
