Interesting...I've been debating between wax and hardwax oil myself. Does the hardwax oil really hold up that well with pets? I'm kinda skeptical—my lab's nails are basically floor destroyers. Would love to avoid weekend buffing marathons though...

I've had hardwax oil on my floors for about two years now, and honestly, it's held up surprisingly well with my hyperactive border collie. Sure, there are a few minor scratches here and there—no finish is bulletproof—but they're way less noticeable than when I had regular wax. Plus, spot repairs are pretty straightforward if needed. Definitely beats spending every weekend buffing out claw marks...

Couldn't agree more—time is money, and spending weekends on floor maintenance isn't exactly my idea of a good investment. I've seen plenty of properties with hardwood floors, and hardwax oil consistently holds up better against pets and heavy foot traffic. Sure, nothing's perfect, but minor scratches add character anyway. If you're ever selling down the line, buyers typically appreciate floors that look naturally lived-in rather than overly polished or artificial...just my two cents.

True, but how do you balance 'character' with actual damage? I've found strategically placed rugs help—especially in high-traffic areas. Still shows off the wood, but cuts down maintenance and stress levels...

I've been trying rugs too, and they're definitely helping. Another thing that's worked for me is using felt pads under furniture legs—especially chairs that get moved around a lot. They're cheap and easy to stick on, and they really cut down on scratches. But I'm curious, has anyone tried those hardwood refresher products? I've seen mixed reviews online, so I'm hesitant to give them a shot...
