Finally upgraded my kitchen—went with LG fridge and GE oven, and honestly couldn't be happier.

The fridge is so quiet I forget it's there, and the oven heats evenly every single time. Anyone else have a good run with either of these brands?

Had the same experience with LG fridges, they're impressively quiet. Makes me wonder though, does anyone else find them almost too silent? I sometimes open mine just to check it's still running, haha. GE ovens have been reliable for me too—though I did notice mine takes slightly longer to preheat as it's gotten older. Curious if you've noticed any changes in heating times or consistency after extended use...

Haha, I totally get this! LG fridges really are impressively quiet. I've installed quite a few of them for clients, and one thing I've noticed is that their compressors are designed specifically to minimize noise and vibration. It's great for open-concept kitchens or smaller spaces where appliance noise can be distracting. But yeah, it can feel a bit strange at first—like you're missing something if you don't hear the usual hum.

As for GE ovens, they're generally reliable workhorses. I've had clients mention similar experiences with preheating times increasing slightly over the years. Usually, this happens due to normal wear and tear on heating elements or temperature sensors. If you notice a significant difference, it might be worth checking the oven's temperature sensor or even recalibrating it. It's a pretty straightforward process and can help restore some consistency in heating performance.

One tip I always give homeowners is to periodically check the oven door seal too. Over time, seals can degrade or loosen, causing heat loss and longer preheat times. A quick visual inspection or the "paper test" (closing the door on a piece of paper and seeing if it slides out easily) can help identify if that's an issue.

Overall though, sounds like you've made some solid choices with your kitchen upgrade. LG and GE both have good track records in terms of reliability and customer satisfaction. Enjoy your new appliances—they should serve you well for many years to come.

Haha, same here! The first week I had mine, I kept thinking it wasn't even plugged in. Took a while to get used to the silence, but now I wouldn't trade it.

As for GE ovens, I've had pretty good luck too, but I've also noticed they can be a tad off on temperature after a few years. Last time mine started acting up, recalibrating helped a ton—only took about 10 minutes and made a noticeable difference. Haven't checked the door seal yet though, might give that paper trick a shot later...

Speaking of quiet appliances, anyone have experience with dishwashers? Been thinking of swapping mine out soon, and I'd love one that's just as quiet as the LG fridge. Recommendations welcome!

Funny you mention dishwasher noise—I recently swapped mine out for a Bosch after years of tolerating an older model that sounded like a small aircraft taking off. The Bosch is impressively quiet, almost as silent as my LG fridge (which, like others mentioned, had me double-checking if it was running at first). On GE ovens, I've noticed similar temperature quirks after a few years, but recalibrating usually sorts it out. Haven't tried the paper trick yet either...might be worth a go this weekend.
