I read somewhere recently that the lighting in your bathroom can actually make you look way worse than you really do. Apparently, overhead lighting is the biggest culprit—casting shadows under your eyes and chin, making you look tired or older. Um, no thanks, right? I mean, I always thought it was just me being overly critical in the mirror, but turns out it's actually a thing.

Also learned that overly bright white bulbs can make your skin tone look washed out and sickly. Warm lighting is supposed to be way more flattering. Makes sense now why hotel bathrooms always seem nicer than mine at home, lol.

Anyway, now I'm thinking about changing my bulbs or maybe adding some sconces on either side of the mirror. Curious if anyone else has noticed this or has other tips for bathroom lighting that doesn't make you feel like you're starring in a low-budget horror flick every morning.

You're spot on about overhead lighting. I've done a bunch of bathroom remodels, and lighting placement makes a huge difference. One thing I've found really helps clients is installing sconces at eye level on either side of the mirror. This setup evenly lights your face without harsh shadows.

Also, you're totally right about bulb color temperature. Warm bulbs around 2700K to 3000K make skin tones look way healthier compared to those stark white bulbs. If you want to take it up another notch, consider adding a dimmer switch. Being able to adjust brightness depending on time of day or mood can really transform your bathroom experience.

One last tip: if you're feeling ambitious, indirect lighting behind mirrors or cabinets can create a soft glow effect that's super flattering and feels luxurious—think spa vibes rather than horror movie set, lol. Hope this helps!
