Totally agree on the lighter wood tones—people always underestimate how much they can open up a space. I’d add a few more tricks that don’t require any extra electricity:

- Plants with glossy leaves. They reflect light naturally and bring in that fresh vibe. Snake plants or pothos are my go-tos.
- Swapping out heavy curtains for linen or cotton sheers. Even if you’re not into the “airy” look, they let in way more daylight.
- If you’re up for it, painting the ceiling a shade lighter than your walls can make the whole room feel taller and brighter. Not everyone’s into painting ceilings, but it’s a game changer.
- I’m not wild about semi-gloss everywhere (can feel a bit cold), but using it just on trim or doors gives you that bounce without going overboard.

Honestly, sometimes just decluttering surfaces makes a bigger difference than people expect. Less stuff = more light bouncing around.

Lighter wood is a solid move, but I’ll be honest—mirrors are my secret weapon. You stick a big one opposite a window and suddenly it’s like you doubled your daylight. I’m with you on decluttering too; buyers walk in and if there’s too much stuff, even a bright room feels cramped. Never thought about glossy-leaf plants, though... might have to steal that trick for my next flip. And painting ceilings? It’s a pain, but yeah, it works. Just don’t try semi-gloss on walls unless you want every little ding to show up.

Couldn’t agree more—semi-gloss is brutal for hiding imperfections. Mirrors are a game changer, though. I’ve had buyers walk in and literally ask if we added windows. Glossy-leaf plants are underrated, too... they bounce light way better than folks realize.

You’re not kidding about the plants. I once put a giant rubber plant in a client’s dark hallway and suddenly it looked like someone installed a skylight. Ever tried painting the ceiling a super pale blue? It’s subtle, but man, it does wonders.

That pale blue trick is gold—used it in a windowless bathroom once, and it actually felt less like a cave. Also, mirrors. People always forget about mirrors. Even a small one can bounce light around like crazy if you angle it right.
