I've actually had good luck with mirrors by angling them slightly instead of placing them directly opposite cluttered spots. Just tilt it a bit toward a nicer view or blank wall...it still brightens things up without reflecting your mess back at you. Worth a shot maybe?

That's clever, but honestly, mirrors always ended up distracting me more than helping. Tried something similar once—angled it toward a plain wall—but every time I walked by, I'd catch movement in the corner of my eye and jump. Maybe it's just me being jumpy though...

I get what you're saying about mirrors being distracting—I've definitely done the double-take thing myself, haha. But honestly, I still think mirrors can be pretty great if they're placed right. Maybe instead of angling it toward a blank wall, try positioning it opposite a window? That way, you're reflecting natural light and an actual outdoor view rather than just empty space. I did this in my living room and it really opened things up without making me jumpy every five minutes.

Or if mirrors just aren't your thing at all, I've found that lighter-colored curtains or sheer fabrics can help bounce around daylight nicely without any sneaky reflections catching your eye. It's subtle but makes a noticeable difference in brightness. Just something else to consider if mirrors keep giving you mini heart attacks...

Good points about mirrors and curtains—both can really help. A couple other quick ideas:

- Try adding a few metallic or glossy decor pieces (like brass lamps or glass vases). They subtly bounce around daylight without the full-on reflection drama.
- Plants! Seriously, greenery near windows can brighten a space visually and make it feel fresher. Plus, leafy plants filter sunlight nicely without glare.

Small tweaks like these can really lift the mood of a room without any jump scares, haha.

Totally agree about plants, they're like nature's own mood boosters. But honestly, metallic decor can sometimes feel a bit cold to me... I prefer softer textures like woven baskets or ceramic pieces—still brightens things up without the shine overload.
