“noise travels like it’s auditioning for a role in surround sound.”

That’s such a perfect way to put it. I’ve actually used bookcases as makeshift dividers too—filled with books, they soak up more sound than you’d think. Have you tried anything like that, or do you find curtains work better?

Bookcases are decent, but honestly, nothing beats a solid wall for blocking sound. Curtains help a bit, but unless they're the super thick theater kind, noise still finds its way through. I once tried hanging rugs—looked weird, but worked better than curtains.

Tried the rug trick too—my living room looked like a weird bazaar for a month, but hey, it did muffle the neighbor’s late-night karaoke. Honestly, nothing’s cheaper than a stack of cardboard boxes if you’re desperate. Not pretty, but my wallet was happy.
