Utility rerouting can change a wall-removal quote

When an interior wall comes down, how do you compare quotes if the wiring, plumbing, or ductwork inside it hasn’t been fully mapped yet? I’m curious whether good estimates break out known conflicts by trade, then state clearly what concealed conditions are excluded or covered by an allowance.

What investigation or access is usually worth arranging before committing, so the scope is clearer without opening the wall blindly? And when hidden runs can’t be confirmed in advance, what’s a reasonable way to handle that uncertainty in the contract?

For concealed rerouting, could the contract use a not-to-exceed allowance for a clearly defined category of work, with documented change orders if the actual scope exceeds it? That puts a ceiling on that allowance, though it doesn’t guarantee all rerouting will fit under the cap.
