How do you pace your painting projects—slow and steady or all at once?

I get what you mean about picking your battles—

I’ll spend forever taping and cutting in the living room, but once I’m in a back hallway or pantry, it’s more like “eh, good enough.”
That’s pretty much my approach too, but sometimes I wonder if I’m just being lazy or actually making smart use of my energy. Have you ever regretted not being more precise in those hidden spaces later on? Or do you just forget about it once the project’s done? I always think I’ll go back and fix it, but… yeah, never happens.

I totally get the “eh, good enough” vibe for those hidden spots. Last month I painted the inside of a closet and honestly, I didn’t even bother taping. At first, I thought I’d regret it, but now I barely notice unless I’m digging for winter boots. That said, every time I open the door I remember that one weird drip on the trim and wonder if it’ll bug me more later. Is it just me, or do those little imperfections start to feel like part of the house’s personality after a while?

I get what you mean about those hidden spots, but honestly, I can’t let things slide—even in closets or behind appliances. Every time I skip a step, I end up wishing I’d just taken the extra 10 minutes to do it right. It’s not about perfection, but more about knowing it’s solid work, even if no one else ever sees it. Those little drips and missed edges bug me way more than they probably should... but I guess everyone’s got their quirks.

- Totally get that urge to do it right, even in the spots nobody sees.
- For me, I’m always torn between “no one will ever know” and “I’ll know.”
- My last project, I spent like 20 minutes taping off the inside of a closet. Was it worth it? Maybe. Did I get paint in my hair anyway? 100%.
- Sometimes I wonder if I’m just making more work for myself, but then again, those missed edges haunt me too.
- Guess I’d rather go slow and not have regrets later... even if it means crawling behind the dryer with a tiny brush.

I get what you mean—those little imperfections can bug you every time you open the closet. But honestly, I usually try to find a balance. If it’s a spot no one will see (like behind the dryer), I’ll go for “good enough” and save my energy (and paint) for the parts that are actually visible. Maybe it’s just me being cheap, but I’d rather put the effort where it counts and keep my sanity... and my budget. Anyone else ever just use leftover paint for the hidden spots?
