Totally agree about the eggshells, they've been a lifesaver for my tomatoes too. Another trick I've found helpful is mixing in a bit of composted leaf mulch—it really loosens up stubborn soil and adds nutrients gradually. Gardening definitely keeps us creative...and humble, haha.

Eggshells and leaf mulch sound great, but have you tried mixing in coffee grounds too? I was skeptical at first, but adding them around my hydrangeas really perked them up (no pun intended...). Apparently, they're good at boosting acidity slightly and attracting earthworms—win-win. Gardening tricks always make me wonder how much we overlook everyday stuff that could seriously improve our spaces. Curious if anyone's had luck with other kitchen scraps?

Coffee grounds definitely help, but I've had great luck with banana peels too. I used to toss them straight into compost, but now I chop them up a bit and bury them around my roses and tomatoes. They're packed with potassium, which really strengthens the plants' resistance to disease and stress. Honestly, I noticed fewer yellow leaves and stronger blooms after just a few weeks.

One thing I'd caution about coffee grounds though—they're awesome for acid-loving plants like hydrangeas or blueberries, but if your soil is already acidic, you might wanna test it first before adding too much. Learned that one the hard way... my spinach wasn't thrilled at all.

Also, if you're budget-conscious like me, try saving veggie water from boiling potatoes or carrots. Once cooled, it's a free nutrient boost for your plants—just avoid adding salt to the cooking water. Little tricks like these really add up over time.

I tried banana peels last summer too, but honestly didn't see much difference. Maybe I didn't chop them small enough or something? Coffee grounds worked wonders though, especially for my hydrangeas—got some really vibrant blues. Good tip about the veggie water, never thought of that... usually just dump it down the sink. Might give it a shot next time I boil potatoes.

Banana peels can be hit or miss, honestly. If you wanna give them another shot, try blending them with a bit of water first—makes it easier for the plants to absorb nutrients. Worked better for me than just chopping them up.
