Renting a thermal camera can be handy, but honestly, if you're already pretty sure there's a leak, sometimes it's quicker (and cheaper) to just cut a small inspection hole. Drywall patches aren't that hard, and you might end up fixing insulation anyway...

Totally agreeβ€”cutting a small hole is usually quicker. Plus, thermal cameras can sometimes mislead if you're not experienced. I've had better luck just opening it up and seeing what's really going on firsthand.

Yeah, drywall's pretty forgivingβ€”worst-case scenario, you patch it twice. I tried a thermal camera once, ended up chasing shadows for half a day before finally cutting into the wall anyway. Lesson learned: sometimes the simplest route saves time and money. Plus, seeing things directly helps you catch other minor issues early, like insulation gaps or moisture spots. Good luck with your project!

Good points thereβ€”drywall is forgiving, but plumbing can be sneaky. A quick DIY peek behind the wall can save headaches later, but if you're unsure about what you're seeing, calling a pro might actually save you money (and sanity) in the long run...speaking from experience here.

Yeah, plumbing can be tricky, but honestly, most basic checks aren't rocket science. With a bit of patience and a couple YouTube vids, you'd be surprised how much you can handle yourself. Worst case, you spot something sketchy and then call in the cavalry...
