Totally agree with this. When I did my first reno (house from the 50s), I had a similar plumbing issue flagged. The inspector was pretty chill about it, but he explained clearly why it mattered. Ended up redoing it myself—wasn't too hard once I watched a few tutorials. Honestly, better safe than sorry... especially with water damage down the line.
I get your point about DIYing it, but honestly, plumbing's one area I'd hesitate to tackle without some real know-how. Had a friend try something similar... looked fine at first, but ended up leaking behind the wall months later. Sometimes it's worth bringing in a pro.
