We're thinking about putting our house up for sale sometime next year, and I'm trying to figure out what upgrades or fixes are actually worth it. I mean, I know kitchens and bathrooms are always a big deal, but honestly, we don't have the budget for a full-on HGTV-style makeover, you know? 😂
Our place is pretty decent overall, but it's definitely got some dated stuff going onβthink early 2000s vibes. Like, the cabinets are solid but kinda worn-looking, countertops are laminate (ugh), and the bathroom fixtures are that shiny brass color that was cool for about five minutes back in the day. Floors are okay-ish, mostly carpet and vinyl, but nothing fancy.
I've heard mixed things from friends who've sold recently. One said repainting everything neutral colors made a huge difference, another swears by just swapping out hardware and fixtures to make things look fresher. And then there's landscaping...our yard isn't terrible, but it's not exactly magazine-worthy either. Is it worth investing in some curb appeal stuff like plants or mulch?
Basically, I'm looking for advice from anyone who's been through this recently. What smaller, budget-friendly upgrades did you do that actually seemed to help your house sell quicker or for more money? Or maybe stuff you regretted spending money on because buyers didn't even notice? I'm open to any suggestions or experiences you wanna share.
