Funny you mention the strike plate—I've had more doors misbehave because of that than anything else. Sometimes it’s just a matter of loosening the screws, nudging it a hair, and tightening them back up. Makes you wonder why manufacturers can’t get the tolerances right in the first place. Weather stripping is a whole saga, though... I once spent an afternoon swapping out three different kinds before realizing the door was just slightly warped. Murphy’s Law, right?

Totally get the strike plate struggle—sometimes it feels like every door has its own personality. I’ve had to shim a few just to get the deadbolt to line up after switching to keyless. Ever tried adjusting hinges instead of the plate? Sometimes that’s the real culprit, especially in older houses. Curious if you noticed any battery drain issues with your new lock during colder months?

Hinges are sneaky troublemakers, for sure. I’ve lost count of how many times a door looked “fine” until I tweaked the hinges and suddenly everything lined up. As for batteries—yeah, cold snaps seem to drain ‘em faster, especially if the lock’s on a drafty exterior door. I usually recommend lithiums over alkalines; they hold up better when temps drop. Funny how a simple upgrade can turn into a mini project... but hey, at least no more fumbling for keys in the dark.

- Had the same issue with battery life last winter—alkalines just couldn’t keep up. Swapped to lithiums and it’s been way more reliable, even when temps dropped below freezing.
- Hinges are underrated. I once spent an hour troubleshooting a “broken” lock, only to realize the door was sagging from loose screws. Tightened everything up and suddenly the lock worked like new.
- Keyless is a game changer, but I do wish more models used rechargeable batteries or had solar options. Feels wasteful tossing out batteries every few months.
- Still beats digging for keys in the rain... small wins, right?

- Lithium batteries really do make a difference in the cold, don’t they? I learned that the hard way after my keypad died during a snowstorm—lesson learned.
- Hinges are sneaky. I’ve had similar “lock” issues that turned out to be the door itself. Sometimes it’s the simple stuff.
- I’m with you on the battery waste. Would love to see more eco-friendly options, maybe even a hand-crank backup or something.
- Not fumbling for keys in the rain is a win in my book, too. It’s those little upgrades that make life easier.
