Good call on the touch-up paint—I learned that one after scraping off a chunk of paint myself. Also, double-check your latch alignment... mine looked fine but kept sticking slightly until I adjusted the strike plate a bit. Old houses are fun, right?

Yep, latch alignment can be sneaky. Mine seemed perfect until colder weather hit, then suddenly it was sticking again. Wood frames shift with seasons, especially in older homes... always something to tweak. Still beats fumbling with keys though.

Had the exact same issue last winter—door worked flawlessly until temps dropped, then boom, alignment went wonky. Ended up standing there like an idiot punching the code three times, freezing my fingers off. Still beats digging through pockets for keys though... the struggle is real. Just gotta accept that seasonal tweaking is part of the deal with these older houses.

Yeah, older houses definitely have their quirks—especially when the weather swings. I've seen this happen a lot with doors shifting slightly due to temperature changes. Usually, it's just a quick adjustment to the strike plate or hinges, nothing major. Have you noticed if your door sticks or rubs a bit more in the summer too, or is it strictly a winter thing? Sometimes seasonal humidity can play tricks on alignment as well...

I've noticed humidity is usually the bigger culprit for me. My front door sticks pretty bad every summer, but come winter, it's smooth sailing again. Funny thing is, my back door does the exact opposite—sticks in winter, fine in summer. Older homes definitely keep things interesting... Have you tried sealing or weatherstripping around the frame to see if it helps at all?
